Avoidable Costs of Security

While in one spectrum we live life in the highest end of Internet and Computer security implementations and practices, again and again we are witness to the fact that highly educated people, ICT consultants, and doctorate degree holders are open to the easiest of security attacks. Regularly we see users whose Facebook, Hotmail and email accounts get hacked/cracked. This is a meaningless cost that can be easily avoided with minimal security measures like,

  1. don’t share passwords and accounts (Tell a friend and allow rampant access to Google, Yahoo, Hotmail accounts),
  2. don’t install untrusted software
  3. don’t open email attachments with cute powerpoint slides, apps
  4. don’t install any suspicious Facebook apps (better yet, don’t install any at all unless published by Facebook itself!)
